Guests round ‘em up at posh Wyoming ranch resort

By Bob Schulman

If vacations with a western theme turn you on, consider the new “Roping and Ranch Skills” retreat set to debut this fall in Wyoming. Guests of the retreat – billed as “a combined working cattle ranch and luxury resort” – will spend five days learning roping fundamentals, cattle work techniques and western horsemanship from expert horse trainers, wranglers and riding instructors.

City slickers on the range.

Spread over the 27,000-acre Red Reflet Ranch near Ten Sleep in Wyoming’s Big Horn Mountains, the resort features private chalets as large as 1,850 square feet. Stocked to order, the chalets are equipped with Wi-Fi, satellite television, a hot tub and steam showers.

Activities and recreational areas include indoor and outdoor riding arenas, a  gym, a heated pool, a movie theatre, tennis and basketball courts, a rifle range, adult and youth climbing walls, beach volleyball, skeet and pistol shooting, ATV riding, dirt bikes and mountain bikes and a zipline.

Meals often include wild game from the abundant elk, deer, antelope, pheasant and grouse living around the ranch. Produce comes from its own greenhouse, gardens and orchards.

The first “Roping and Ranch Skills” getaway at Red Reflet will be held Sept. 23-28. All-inclusive rates start at $2,700 per person. For more information, visit www.red-reflet-ranch.net
