New for 2016: Tour Southeast Asia by private jet

By Bob Schulman

Picture yourself and a companion taking a trip like this next year:

First, you take a commercial flight to Thailand, where you hop on a private jet and zip off to a gorgeous bay in Vietnam for a couple of days. Then you fly to Cambodia to soak up the culture there -- including a helicopter ride over the famous Angkor temples – and then hop over to Laos for a stay in the country’s ancient capital and a cruise on the Mekong River. Next, you fly over to the Philippines for some beach and surf time before winding up in Tokyo for a few days. Among highlights of your stay in Japan’s capital will be everything from sushi tasting to exploring centuries-old shrines to browsing around some of the city’s hippest shops and art galleries.

After that you can go home on a commercial jet – or opt to add a few more days to your Asian adventure.

You can go on this dream trip as one of 16 passengers (eight per plane) who’ll fly through the friendly skies of Southeast Asia on two private Gulfstream twinjets. The 14-day trip, aptly named “An Extraordinary Private Jet Journey,”

is set for March 6-20 next year by the also aptly named Elegant Journeys Department of Gibsonia, Pa.-based Frontiers International Travel in conjunction with Amanresorts and Remote Lands.

Among ground arrangements for the adventure will be stays in luxurious Amanresorts’ hotels and private cars, drivers and guides for each couple during tour days. Trip participants will gather at night for cocktail parties and gourmet dining.

You wouldn’t expect a trip-of-a-lifetime like this would come cheap, and it doesn’t. The tab starts at $58,888 ppdo (per person, double occupancy).

Frontiers Elegant Journeys specializes in "stylish adventures and thrilling expeditions" around the globe. The travel company's tours include everything from photo safaris in Africa to private yacht charters in Alaska, barge cruises in Europe, family cruises in the Galapagos islands, tours of the Arctic and the Antarctic and many more amazing outings.
