A Grand Canyon Adventure
By Ed Reed

Early morning on the Colorado River.
Sleeping in the sand on the banks of the Colorado River. Looking up at the stars. Waking up through the night to witness the dipper turning around Polaris, the North Star. Meteors streaking across the sky. Listening to the wind and searching for wishes--do we really need so many? How much is enough? Being present in the moment. Sensing my body melting into the sand. Becoming sand: tiny specs of sand glistening gently in the face of Infinity. We are the stuff of stars.

Hiking in a side canyon, Grand Canyon.

Floating on the Colorado River, Grand Canyon.
Floating mid river through the canyon, there are many times when you can see the sky in the water. But it is not the sky; it is the water. This visual definition of reflection is deceptively simple, part of it's appeal. Seen here: the deep space of the picture comes together, captured in a moment, as a strong two dimensional pattern of light and dark, positive and negative. A delightfully simple deception, frozen in time--quietly suggesting that neither the word, nor the image, does adequate justice to the immensity of the experience.
